Air cargo loading for a China to Türkiye shipment
EXPERT GUIDE · UPDATED 17 AUGUST 2026

How does air cargo from China to Türkiye work?

Air cargo from China to Türkiye typically covers supplier pickup, consolidation, flight preparation, carrier booking, arrival in Istanbul, customs formalities and final delivery. PSP Expres coordinates this flow through one Istanbul operations desk.

Quick answer

A reliable quotation and operating plan requires a commercial invoice, packing list, product description, package dimensions, gross weight, origin city and delivery address. Chargeable weight is the higher of actual and volumetric weight.

IATA REFERENCE

Chargeable weight in air cargo

Under IATA’s general reference, volumetric weight is calculated as length × width × height in centimetres / 6000. The higher of actual and volumetric weight is used for freight charging; carrier and commodity conditions must also be confirmed.

Volumetric kg = Length × Width × Height (cm) ÷ 6000

Example: 100 × 80 × 80 cm = about 106.7 kg. If the gross weight is 80 kg, chargeable weight is about 107 kg.

COMPLIANCE

Acceptance, dangerous goods and customs notes

Not every commodity is accepted as standard general cargo. Batteries, chemicals, aerosols, magnets, liquids and temperature-sensitive shipments require checks against current IATA DGR rules, carrier acceptance conditions and applicable declarations. In Türkiye, duties, permits and surveillance measures depend on the product’s HS code, origin and import regime; final checks should be made against official rules and with an authorised customs broker.
